What’s the Difference, and Which Detox Is Right for You?
You eat clean. You drink the water. You’ve tried the cleanses. And you still feel heavy, foggy and inflamed.
If that sounds familiar, you’re not imagining it. We live in a world of air pollution, mold, plastics, pesticides and chronic stress. Your body’s detox systems work hard every single day, and sometimes they need more support than a juice cleanse can give.
That’s why more people are asking about ozone blood therapies. But the names get confusing fast: IV ozone, EBOO, EBO2. Are they the same thing? Is one better? Let’s clear it up.
First, what is Ozone Therapy?
Medical ozone is a precise mix of oxygen and ozone (O3), a highly reactive form of oxygen. In blood ozone therapies, your own blood is exposed to this mix outside your body, then returned to you.
The idea is not to “put ozone in you.” When ozone meets blood, it reacts within seconds and creates short-lived signaling molecules. Researchers believe these signals may nudge your body’s own antioxidant, circulation and immune responses.
The big difference between therapies comes down to three things:
How much blood is treated
Whether the blood passes through a filter
How long and how continuously the treatment runs
IV Ozone
This is the classic approach. A provider draws a small bag of your blood, mixes it with ozone, and drips it back in. Multi-pass versions (such as “10-pass”) repeat this cycle several times in one visit.
It’s a solid entry point and has the longest track record. The limit is volume. Each pass treats only a small amount of blood, roughly 100 to 250 mL. Your body holds about 5 liters.
EBOO
EBOO takes the idea further. Instead of a bag, your blood flows continuously out of one arm, through a closed, sterile circuit and a specialized filter membrane, then back into your other arm. Ozone and oxygen are delivered across the filter.
Because the flow is continuous, EBOO can treat far more blood in one session. Early research by ozone pioneer Dr. Velio Bocci’s team reported treating up to about 4.8 liters of blood in one hour, compared with roughly 250 mL in a standard autohemotherapy session.
EBO2: the next step in blood ozone therapy
Here’s where it gets interesting. You’ll often see “EBO2” and “EBOO” used interchangeably online. They share the same core principle: continuous, high-volume, filtered blood ozonation in a closed circuit.
What sets an EBO2 protocol apart is how it’s done. At Omni Life, EBO2 is our most comprehensive ozone therapy, combining:
High-volume treatment: a continuous circuit designed to treat liters of blood, not a single bag
Advanced filtration: blood passes through a medical-grade filter membrane during treatment
Full oxygenation and ozonation in one physician-supervised session
When people ask us which ozone therapy goes deepest, this is our answer. EBO2 is designed to give your body the broadest exposure to ozone’s effects in a single visit, with filtration built in.
At a glance
IV ozone vs. EBOO vs. EBO2
IV ozone
Major autohemotherapy. One bag is drawn, mixed and returned.
- Flow
- Single bag
- Filter
- No
- Session
- ~30–45 min
- Best fit
- Gentle start
Multi-pass
The same bag process, repeated several times in one visit.
- Flow
- Bag, repeated
- Filter
- No
- Session
- ~1–2 hrs
- Best fit
- More volume
EBOO
Blood flows continuously out of one arm, through a filter, and back.
- Flow
- Continuous loop
- Filter
- Yes
- Session
- ~60–90 min
- Best fit
- Whole-body
EBO2 at Omni Life
Continuous, high-volume, filtered ozonation in one physician-supervised session.
- Flow
- Continuous loop
- Filter
- Yes, medical-grade
- Session
- Set at your consult
- Best fit
- Deepest reset
*Reported in early research by Dr. Velio Bocci’s team. Your body holds about 5 liters of blood. Volumes and times are approximate and vary by protocol. Ozone therapy is not FDA-approved to treat any disease.
Who may be a good fit for EBO2?
EBO2 may be worth exploring if you:
Feel chronically tired, foggy or inflamed despite “normal” labs
Have had mold, environmental or toxin exposures
Want a deeper reset as part of a longevity or detox plan
Have tried IV ozone and want the next level of support
It isn’t right for everyone. People with certain conditions, such as G6PD deficiency, uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, some bleeding disorders, pregnancy or recent heart events, may not be candidates. That’s why every EBO2 patient at Omni Life starts with a consultation and screening.
